Arts Sponsorship Award

Companies in Germany advocate art and culture out of the conviction for social responsibility, however, this engagement has been barely recognized to date. Therefore, the Kulturkreis and its partner the Südeutsche Zeitung und Handelsblatt has awarded annually, since 2006, the Arts Sponsorship Award as the only nationwide award for corporate art support. It recognizes exemplary achievements of large, medium-size and smaller corporations each, to strengthen and inspire outstanding entrepreneurial cultural engagement.

Corporations of every size and branch of industry can apply for the award with a specific art support project of the last 24 month.
Determining factors for the decision of the jury is not the size of the budget invested into arts and culture, but are criteria such as communication of engagement, integration into the company and willingness to assume risk. The jury consists of economic leaders, media- and academic representatives, as well as representatives from the areas of art and politics. Prizes are awarded at a festive gala in early September at the House of German Economy in Berlin.
