Fine Arts Committee

The Fine Arts Committee awards yearly the Kulturkreis ars viva Prize for Fine Arts endowed with 5.000 Euro each to emerging artists. The selection occurs according to different themes such as time, identity, narration, sound or production that mirror current tendencies in contemporary art. Connected to the ars viva Award is a series of exhibitions that are shown at three different venues for contemporary art, two of which are in Germany and one in another European country. A detailed bilingual catalogue and a limited edition are published as part of the exhibition.

Artists can not apply themselves for the ars viva Prize. Possible candidates are suggested and chosen in joint meetings by the members of the committee and expert advisors.

Impressions of the exhibitions at the art space "Kunstfenster"

Besides the ars viva, the Kulturkreis and its Fine Arts Committee present annually exhibitions at the "Kunstfenster" at the House of German Economy in Berlin. Different artists are invited to develop work especially for this two-story art space. Co-workers and guests of the building, as well as an interested public are invited to visit the exhibition during business hours.

Once a year the art publication "Jahresring" is published by Dr. Brigitte Oetker in collaboration with a guest curator on behalf of the Kulturkreis and its Fine Arts Committee.
